Treasure hunt report 17 Aug 2011 on Monash Clayton campus

Time and venue: 12-1pm, starting from religious centre, Monash University Clayton

In treasure hunt, Shaun, my friend Winnie and I first spent a few minutes asking God for clues such as places and physical appearance. When we approached people, we explained to them what we’re doing and asked whether it’s OK to pray for them. In the following paragraphs, the clues that we received are underlined.

It was a rainy and windy day but it didn’t deter our passion to see God moved. Firstly, we went to Menzies building and approached Cathy, who was a blonde woman with wavy hair, and having a 5 minute lunch break. At first she was reluctant to receive any prayer because she was not interested in religion. But later we discovered that she had neck pain so she agreed to let us prayed for her.

After that we went to the place outside post office and met Elena, who was opening her letter box at that moment. We approached her because she was wearing a purple scarf. A few conversations later and we found out she was expecting a baby so we prayed for her coming child. She thanked us and we walked pass the campus centre. Just then, we spotted a girl with a dark tone skin and wearing a pink jumper with white words on it. The girl’s name was Esther and she’s a third year biochemistry student. She asked us to pray for her study and then rushed off to her lecture.

Battling the rain, we walked to the poster pillar outside the bus loop. A lady with a purple scarf and umbrella was across the road. We immediately approached her but she was not willing to reveal too much of her information. Still, she wished us all the best for our study.

Although we got our first rejection, that did not discourage us to approach another girl Abby with a purple scarf in Menzies Lawn. Upon explaining what we were doing, she asked us to pray for the exam of her brother Reuben, who’s studying year 12 at Waverley Secondary College. After praying for Reuben, we ran out of time so we concluded our session.

From this experience, our faith level raised and we are not as afraid to speak to local Aussies as before. It’s very exciting to be led by the Holy Spirit and allowed him to do the work.

Please keep these people in prayer because I believe it is God’s divine appointment that we prayed for them on campus. Also, it’s amazing to see so many people wearing purple scarf in one hour.
