Last Friday morning (23/9), I joined the weekly praying walk with my friends from other fellowships in the Clayton neighbourhood. In prayer walk, we pray for the houses and speak God's peace to them. This is part of 'prayer evangelism' (see the other entry in E-club resources). Now I realize that I can use this opportunity to share God's love with the pedestrians we encounter.
Street evangelism might sound scary. However, I found it not so difficult when we were doing prayer walk. Basically, we just approached people as God led us. We told them that we were praying for the community and asked them whether they had any prayer needs. This time one man from Shanghai responded and we prayed for his daughter who is working in Melbourne. We thought it would be a good idea to bring some gospel tracts with our contact details next time, so that they might find out more about Jesus. There were people who rejected us as well but that's OK. Since the more people we talked to, the more chance we have to share God's good news.
In short, prayer walk is fun and you will encounter God while you walk.
