WHAT IS YOUR FOOD?

John 4:34-35

34
"My food," said Jesus, "is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work. 35Do you not say, 'Four months more and then the harvest'? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.

INTRODUCTION

Jesus lived His life on earth with a sense of purpose and vision. Today, we are going to look at how Jesus made every
moment of His life count for eternity.

TO DO GOD’S WILL

34"My food," said Jesus, "is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work. John 4:34

The disciples went to buy food and left Jesus alone at the well. Jesus saw the Samaritan woman and began to share with her about the following:

  • Eternal life (John 4:13-14)
  • Sin (John 4:16-18)
  • True worship (John 4:21-24) and
  • The Messiah/Christ: our Savior (John 14:25-26)
When the disciples returned, Jesus told them he had another kind of food (John 4:34). Jesus’ food was to do the will of God and complete it. His will forJesus included preaching the Good News.

"Jesus’ priority was to do the will of God".

God’s will for the local church is to help fulfill the Great Commission. Our vision is help fulfill the Great Commission by building strong and biblical people to plant strong and biblical churches locally, nationally and all over the world.

TO REAP THE HARVEST

35Do you not say, 'Four months more and then the harvest'? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest. John 4:35

Many people around us need to know and experience God like the Samaritan woman. Jesus told the disciples that the farmer must wait for the harvest to ripen, while the spiritual harvest is ripe for the taking. Jesus taught the disciples to share the Good News with a sense of urgency.

"We need to have an urgency to reap the harvest".

We need to be on the lookout for opportunities to share to the ‘Samaritans’ around us. These people could be our family, friends, work colleagues and even strangers we meet. Everyone needs to hear the Good News about God’s love and
forgiveness of sin.

CONCLUSION

Let us follow in the footsteps of Jesus by doing the ‘Will of God’ and reaping the harvest of souls for eternity. We need to utilize our time to build the local church and extend God’s kingdom.

Questions to Ponder.

How can the local church fulfill the will of God?

Where are the spiritual harvest fields in your community?
