John 3:16-17
16"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
INTRODUCTION
Gods love is amazing! Jesus took the time to explain to Nicodemus (a Pharisees), God’s love and the purposes of sending His Son into the world. He didn’t want Nicodemus to perish but to receive eternal life.
THE GIFT OF ETERNAL LIFE
16"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)
In John 3:16, Jesus shared to Nicodemus about God’s love in giving His one and only Son to the world. Jesus came to die for the sins of humankind. Jesus wanted Nicodemus to seek eternal life through faith in Jesus rather than through his own efforts.
God is eternal and He created mankind to be eternal beings. The eternal nature of mankind was lost when Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden (Genesis Chapter 3). Apostle Paul reiterated that the consequences of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life (Romans 6:23). Death is referring to physical and spiritual separation from God.
Ro 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Let us go out and tell everyone the Good News about Eternal life today!
THE GIFT OF SALVATION
17For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. John 3:17
In John 3:17 Jesus shared to Nicodemus about God’s mercy and forgiveness instead of condemnation. Nicodemus needed God’s forgiveness despite being a religious person. Jesus Christ is the only one who can save humankind from sin and eternal punishment (Acts 4:12).
Ac 4:12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.”
People need to receive Jesus as Lord and Savior in order to begin an eternal relationship with God that can lead to salvation (Romans 10:9-10).
CONCLUSION
Jesus declared God’s gift of eternal life and salvation to Nicodemus (a Pharisees) and to the multitudes. We as the local church must share the Good News in our schools, universities, workplaces, communities and to the nations
