THREE GLORIOUS ASPECTS OF THE GOSPEL

THE GOSPEL IS GOD'S SAVING POWER (PART 1)

I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes (Romans 1:16a).

The Apostle Paul was totally sold out in the preaching the gospel after an encounter with Jesus on the road to Damascus (Acts chapter 9).

This encounter revolutionized and transformed his spiritual life! He had two significant revelations:

  • Jesus was not just a man but is indeed the Son of God.
  • Jesus is the ultimate Savior from mankind’s sin.
Paul declared boldly to believers in Rome that he was not ashamed of the gospel because it has the power of God for salvation.

Key Principle: The gospel is glorious because there is no other way in which men can be saved. Good works and various religious beliefs can not and will not bring salvation unto mankind. Jesus is the only way to heaven.

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. (Eph 2:8-9)

Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me (John:14:6)

THE GOSPEL IS UNIVERSAL (PART 2)

I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. (Romans 1:16b).

Paul declared that the gospel is for everyone; Jews and Gentiles.

God, in His love, mercy and kindness has chosen to forgive and embrace anyone who would repent. For example, people can be saved no matter what the person’s skin colour, previous sins, former religious practices, social or socioeconomic status.

Key Principle: The gospel is glorious because it is for everyone! None are excluded. God does not show partiality or favouritism.

When they heard this, they had no further objections and praised God, saying, "So then, God has granted even the Gentiles repentance unto life." (Acts 11:18)

After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands.(Revelations 7:9).

THE GOSPEL IS RIGHTEOUS IN CHRIST (PART 3)

For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: "The righteous will live by faith." (Acts 1:17)

Paul declared that righteousness can only be found in Christ. Individuals, neighbourhoods, cities and nations can be transformed through the message of the gospel.

Righteousness prevails whenever the gospel is upheld and honoured. For example, it has been found the crime rate has fallen in cities that turned to God,. Countries in Africa and South America are experiencing tremendous revivals which have resulted in better social, economic and moral standards. Accordingly, wickedness prevails wherever the gospel is not preached or rejected.

Key Principle: The gospel is glorious because of its life transforming power. Through the gospel, Jesus can turn men from their sinful nature to righteousness.
