Reflection on SWOT VAC outreach (26/10/11)

I really want to thank God for giving us the opportunity to bless the student community on Monash Clayton campus during SWOT VAC (study break before exams). A few weeks ago in an united prayer meeting, Christians from different fellowships received an idea from God to do a united outreach during SWOT VAC.

After a few weeks of negotiation and planning, Christian Union (CU), Campus Christian Movement (CCM) and Monash Chinese Christian Fellowship (MCCF) have decided to support this outreach on 26/10 morning. Overseas Christian Fellowship (OCF) is also doing exam blessings from 25-27 evening. Although OCF cannot join us in the morning, we kept each other in prayer. I see this as a breakthrough because in this outreach Christians from both local and international background work together to reach out to the
campus. This really demonstrates the unity among Christian brothers and sisters on campus.

On the outreach day itself, God gave us wonderful weather and many people came to help out. Besides handing out pancakes and free tea, we also offer prayer for people's needs such as exams and even prayer for salvation! Many people wrote prayer requests on slips of paper and we prayer for them. It is truly a wonderful time. I believe this outreach foreshadows the greater things that God has in store for next year. For example, it might even be possible to do an united outreach during orientation when most new students are around.

Indeed, it is more blessed to give than to receive (Acts 20:35)
