MAKING A DIFFERENCE

Last month, I did a month of internship training in a Chartered Accounting firm upon which the best candidates would be offered a permanent position with the company. There were four of us who were selected for this program.

I did wonder how everything would turn out, especially in the area of relating with the other candidates. After all, we were “competing” for the permanent role. Little did I expect to be able to build such a good friendship with the only other girl in the program.

She and I became fast friends. We would groan and share our challenges everyday as we walked together to our bus stops. Maybe, it was because we were both in the same shoes, seeking for an Accounting job for so long which explains why we could relate to each other so easily. But I knew that our contact was divinely orchestrated by God!

During that one month, I had opportunities to share Jesus to her. The conversations came easily. I remember praying for privacy to share without a crowd being around. God opened a conversation during a rainy afternoon where we stayed indoors to have lunch while the others went out to eat. I also found out that she was related to someone at church, which made it even less complicated to talk about Christianity.

One month came and went. And nope, she did not accept Jesus Christ, nor did I get the job. But I am so sure that God placed me there to share my life with her for that short season in time. I am so glad for that opportunity. I am so grateful that God does not place us in places just so that we can “achieve” our own goals, which in my case was finding a job. But He has far greater plans which I do not know. Life is much fuller and much more fulfilling knowing that I can make a difference for God’s kingdom!
