REDEEMED US FROM THE CURSE OF THE LAW (PART 1)
Before Christ, mankind lived under the laws of Moses. The law demanded punishment for every offender. Jesus took the punishment of sins on our behalf.
He was cursed with death on the cross. In Galatians 3:13, the apostle Paul wrote Jesus redeemed us that means to buy out of slavery by paying a price. Jesus paid this price by dying, to deliver mankind form the slavery of sin.
Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.” Galatians 3:13
Key Principle: Christ died to set mankind from free from the curse of the law.
BROUGHT RECONCILIATION AND JUSTIFICATION (PART 2)
Before Christ, mankind was separated from God due to sin. In Colossians 1:20, it says mankind was estranged from God because of evil behaviour (sins).
Through the death of Christ, mankind could be reunited/reconciled with God and made holy (Justification).
‘and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross. Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behaviour. But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation— Colossians 1:20-22
Key Principle: Christ died to make mankind holy and reunite us with God.
DESTROYED THE POWER OF SATAN (PART 3)
Before Christ, mankind was under the Satan’s control. Sin and death reigned on earth. Christ conquered sin and death through His death and resurrection from the grave.
In Hebrews 2:14, it says
Jesus became a man and died so that He can destroy the devil.. Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might destroy him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil.
Key Principle: Christ died to destroy the works and control of Satan i.e. sins and death.
